HOW TO INTERPRET IT

Read the data before you read the conclusion.

01

What counts as a useful match

Time difference and distance work together. An event one minute away but on another continent is not a useful local match. A nearby event many hours away is also weak. The checker orders candidates by both dimensions and shows the best published large-event records around the selected time.

02

Weather adds a second independent layer

If the sky was heavily clouded, a direct view of a meteor may be less plausible even if a regional sensor event exists. Conversely, clear conditions make a visual report more compatible. Weather does not confirm identity; it constrains visibility.

03

Meteor-shower context is separate

A major shower window can make ordinary meteors more common, but it does not prove that one event belongs to the shower. The checker reports shower timing as context rather than forcing an association.
